Question: what happens to Pre Track & Trace Labelled stock? Answer: All Cigarettes and Hand Rolling Tobacco have to be off the shelves. It will be illegal to sell them after that date as all stock will have to carry “Track & Trace” coding and the UK Security label. Question: Can we still sell MENTHOL and other Flavoured Cigarettes after 20th May 2020? Answer: NO. Cigarettes and RYO tobacco products may no longer have characterising flavours such as menthol, vanilla or candy that mask the taste and smell of tobacco. In the case of products with more than a 3% market share (e.g. MENTHOL), the ban will apply as of 2020. So from 20th May 2020 menthol cigarettes and RYO are banned. Question: Will suppliers take old stock back? Answer: Each Supplier has their own procedure regarding returns, so we would suggest you connect them direct as soon as possible. Question: Replacement Brands and Products Answer: All major manufacturers are producing alternative products to replace the ones being taken off the shelves, in fact many popular cigarette brands will be available in a new format that complies with the new laws. The following brands are no longer available from manufacturers : Ome Green, Slims Green, St Moritz, Marl. Green, Marl Ice Blast and Chesterfield S/K Green. Caution: many of the replacement brands have the word “GREEN “ in the title. These are NOT replacement menthol brands. More information on these products can be obtained from our “Man in Havana”, sorry I mean our “Man in Harrogate”. Knowledge of the new products I believe is essential as the smoking public will be confused in the initial stages by the packs.
